🚛 Position Overview
Job Title: CDL A Driver Trainer
Location: Duncan, South Carolina (on-site)
Pay Range: $22.73 – $28.42 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Employment Type: Full-time, regular hours, weekends off
💼 Key Responsibilities
As a Driver Trainer at U.S. Xpress, you will deliver hands-on instruction to new drivers, reinforce a strong safety culture, and support overall fleet performance.
- Deliver classroom, simulator, and on-the-road driver instruction in compliance with federal, state, and company standards
- Develop and implement lesson plans using role-play, group discussions, and multimedia tools
- Coach trainees on DOT regulations, FMCSR compliance, and company safety policies
- Evaluate driver skills and maintain training documentation
- Assist with post-incident reviews and skills-improvement sessions
- Operate simulator systems and provide feedback to enhance training quality
- Maintain current professional certifications and annual qualification standards
🧠 Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL and current DOT medical certificate
- Minimum 2 years of relevant driving or training experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and vehicle safety requirements
- Strong communication and instructional skills to engage diverse learners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LMS systems, and ELD devices
- High ethical standards and commitment to safety
- Willingness to travel up to 25% (including occasional overnight trips)
💪 Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to walk up to 150 feet daily and climb vehicle steps (approx. 51 inches)
- Capable of bending, stooping, and performing vehicle inspections
- Must maintain balance, hearing, and manual dexterity
- Work may be performed in classrooms, offices, and outdoor training facilities
